President's Message

Welcome to the website of the President’s Council for Diversity & Inclusion (PCDI). Established in 2017, our council is composed of a diverse group of Massasoit Community College faculty and staff. In 2019, membership has increased to over 30 members. The Council is committed to creating an engaging and harmonious climate where the talents of our college community flourish.

The PCDI welcomes new ideas, diverse thinking, and engaging conversations that are inclusive to all. We recognize the unique perspectives and experiences of every student and employee. That’s why the work that we do encourages diversity and inclusion and cultivates an environment where every student and employee feels respected, appreciated, and most importantly, supported. We strive to encourage an environment of inclusion by listening to diverse perspectives and to the evolving needs of our faculty, staff, and students, in keeping with our mission and statement of values. Currently, we are making great progress within the four focus areas:

  1. Establishing a proactive approach to increasing cross-cultural and racial diversity within our faculty, staff, and administration (recruitment/retention/outreach)
  2. Further developing learning goals that are inclusive of equity and diversity (faculty/curriculum/general education)
  3. Facilitating relevant and critical conversations that focus on racial equity and inclusion (professional development)
  4. Conducting an audit of all of the college’s written material for implicit bias (project-based)
    Moving forward, we will continue to build a workplace where differing perspectives are valued and every contribution from every background is welcomed. We are committed to fostering and embracing campus culture of inclusion and appreciate the contributions of all people.
