EKG Technician Standout Student
Anya Motta

EKG Technician - Anya Motta

Prior to registering for the EKG Technician program at Massasoit in the fall of 2017 Anya Motta had worked in the health care field for six years.  While she enjoyed working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home, Anya felt drawn to Electrocardiography.  She spent hours researching the field online, checking the demand for EKG Technicians and the pay she could earn.  The EKG Technician certificate program at Massasoit Community College fit her schedule perfectly and looked like a promising training program for the career she was looking for.

Anya loved the fact she could complete the program within one semester.  She learned the fundamentals of electrocardiography and through the practical nature of the curriculum, gained confidence to work with patients.  Instructor, Eileen Jones, was instrumental in preparing Anya for success in the field.  Anya commented, “Eileen came to class early, stayed late, and really went the extra mile to make sure we all understood what she was teaching”.  She also informed the students of local EKG job opportunities.

Shortly after completing the EKG Technician program in December of 2017, Anya was hired as an Emergency Assistant Unit Coordinator at Good Samaritan Hospital’s Surgery Center.  In her new job, Anya puts her EKG Technician training to use every day.  She is earning substantially better pay and is happier in her career.  To those considering the EKG Technician program, Anya advises, “Do it now.  It’s a lot of work but it’s very manageable and in the end, it’s definitely worth it”.
