Paralegalism is one of the fastest growing careers in the country. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the number of paralegals to increase 28% between 2008 and 2018, much faster than the national average for all occupations. Learn to increase your efficiency and billable hours with this intensive, nationally acclaimed, 84-hour Paralegal program - designed for beginners, as well as, advanced legal workers. Students will be trained to:

  • Interview witnesses
  • Investigate complex fact patterns
  • Research the law
  • Prepare legal documents
  • Assist in preparing cases for courtroom litigation

This instruction is practice-oriented and focuses on those areas of law that are most in demand.  No prerequisite but expect to complete a significant amount of homework for each session!

Withdrawal and Refund Information

To withdraw, you can visit the Registrar’s Office in Brockton, the Enrollment Center in Canton, or the main Office in Middleborough. Alternatively, you can: (1) send an email from your Massasoit email account to Registrar's Office email requesting withdrawal, or (2) send a fax to 508-427-1246 with your printed and signed name requesting withdrawal.

Withdrawals before the start of the first class are granted a 100% refund. Withdrawals after the first class are refunded 0-50% depending on the length of the course.

Parking Decals

There are designated parking lots available for students; however, a parking decal is required. If you do not have a decal, visit the Massasoit campus police with your drivers license, car registration and proof of course registration to complete a form and obtain your decal.

Emanuel DePina

Paralegal - Emanuel DePina

Fighting social injustice is something Emanuel DePina has been passionate about since he was in high school in Cape Verde.  The best way he knew to accomplish this goal was through a career in the legal field.  Growing up, Emanuel witnessed much social injustice within his community.  “Education is key for success in life”, he said, reflecting on his past.  “You need to be educated”.  As a Criminal Justice major at Massasoit Community College, Emanuel saw an opportunity to advance his knowledge of the legal field by taking the Paralegal certificate program at Massasoit in the fall 2017 semester.

Emanuel exceled in the program, being identified as an exemplary student by his instructor, Matthew Fabisch.  Criminal and civil law were Emanuel’s favorite topics, giving him insight into the inner workings of the legal system.  Upon completing the program Emanuel was offered several Paralegal jobs by various, local law firms.  The certificate he earned through the Paralegal program made him extremely marketable within the legal industry.

As excited as he was to receive the job offers, Emanuel decided to continue his education instead.  He earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Massasoit Community College in the spring of 2018 and was awarded a full merit scholarship in the Criminal Justice program at Bridgewater State University.  He hopes to attend Harvard Law School after earning his bachelor’s degree.  Completing the Paralegal program was an important step in Emanuel’s decision to pursue his dream of becoming a criminal prosecutor.  He recommends the program to anyone interested in entering the legal field.
